Privacy Policy

Fader · Last updated 2026-09-08

Fader has no account, no sign-in and no cloud. Your mixes, tapes, alarm and settings are stored on your phone and nowhere else. Nothing you create in Fader is sent to us.

What stays on your device

Your tapes, the current mix, the sleep timer, the alarm, the bedtime reminder, your preferences and any audio files you import are written to Fader's private storage on your device. None of it is uploaded, and no other app can read it.

Tapes, mix, alarm and preferences are included in your Android backup (Google's own backup of your device, under your Google account and your control). Imported audio files and the advertising SDK's data are not backed up.

A tape leaves your device only when you choose to share it as an image or a code, or to export a JSON file, and then it goes exactly where you send it. Uninstalling Fader deletes everything it stored.

What we collect

Fader uses four Google services. None of them receives your tapes or your audio.

  • Google Analytics for Firebase records how the app is used: counts and events such as a timer finishing, a tape being saved or Pro being purchased. It also receives a device identifier, general device information and an approximate location derived from your IP address. It never receives a tape's name or content.
  • Firebase Crashlytics receives a report when the app crashes: the point in the code where it failed, the device model and the Android version, plus which sounds were playing so we can reproduce it.
  • Firebase Remote Config downloads a few settings (for example, how often an ad may be shown). It sends no personal data.
  • Google AdMob shows the ads in the free version and receives your advertising ID and device information to select and measure them. Ads are limited to general-audience content. In regions where consent is required, you are asked before any personalised ads are shown, and you can change that choice at any time from Settings → Ad preferences. Buying Fader Pro removes ads entirely.

Purchases are handled by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment details.

Permissions Fader asks for: notifications and exact alarms (so the alarm and the bedtime reminder ring on time), full-screen when the alarm rings, and running in the background as a media service so the mix keeps playing with the screen off. It does not ask for your location, contacts, microphone or files beyond the audio you explicitly pick to import.

Your choices

  • Buy Fader Pro to remove ads.
  • Change your advertising consent from Settings → Ad preferences, where that choice applies to you.
  • Reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings.
  • Delete a tape in the app, or uninstall Fader, to remove its data from your device.

Children

Fader is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. The baby sounds are for parents.
